Marty Blake has been working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer for many years. Marty’s illustration is grounded in collage, usually digital. Her pictures are composed of scraps from her extensive library of old books, magazines, ephemera, and vintage cigar box labels. She uses her own photographs and stock photography when needed. For gallery installations her work is cut paper with the occasional bit of lichen or doll’s arm glued on.
Marty’s design clients include arts and educational institutions, restaurants and fine foods. Her projects are logos, branding, packaging, brochures, ads, posters and publications. She designs from concept through execution, when needed art directing photo shoots and monitoring jobs on press.
Marty teaches Illustration at Syracuse University, among other teaching and lecturing gigs. She’s Education Chair on the Board of ICON11, the Illustration Conference, serving a second term. ICON11 will be held in Kansas City, Missouri in July, 2020, and attract presenters from all over the US and the world. None of this dissuades Marty from her freelance vocation. Got a job?
